    Ecology, Landscape Architecture, Trees

An interdisciplinary commission encompassing landscape design, trees, ecology, with Open Spaces helping to deliver a comprehensive package for the outline planning stage. The approved outline development for a ‘Senior Living’ village now moves on to the detailed design stages.

The development is set across four primary accommodation blocks with Open Spaces providing the hard and soft landscape design for the main entrance courtyard as well as ecological and arboricultural consultancy services across the whole site.

Particular consideration was given to water attenuation within the landscape design development stage, with an in-depth study offering a move to below ground holding tanks to better deliver a clear design aesthetic with a focus on supporting the living and recreational needs of the residents. The central courtyard includes a large water feature, seating areas and ornamental planting.

Open Spaces carried out a BS 5837 tree survey, supplying the associated report, Arboricultural Impact Assessment and Arboricultural Method Statements. Our Preliminary Ecological Appraisal and a Bat Survey Inspection also formed part of the planning package.
